Bihar Sports Minister stages dharna demanding Chapra SP's transfer

Chapra, Jun 26 (UNI) Bihar Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Janardan Singh Segriwal today staged dharna in front of Bhagwanbazar police station in Saran district, demanding transfer of Superintendent of Police, Chapra Satyendra Prasad Singh, for allegedly conspiring to kill him.

Demanding immediate transfer of the Chapra SP, Mr Segriwal told mediapersons here that he and Binod Mahato, a candidate for the post of district Board Chairman, were 'challenged' by JD (U) MLA Ram Pravesh Rai's supporters.

Mr Segriwal said that Mr Singh did not pay heed to his repeated pleas for rescuing him and Mr Mahato from the clutches of Mr Rai's supporters. Mr Segriwal suspected that the SP was conspiring to kill him.

He said that he had already discussed the issue with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, state JD (U) president Rajeev Ranjan alias Lallan Singh and state BJP president Radha Mohan Singh.

Meanwhile, Mr Rai accused Mr Segriwal of ''forcefully bundling'' Mr Mahato into his vehicle on the way to Patna.

The election to the post of District Board Chairman in Chapra is scheduled on June 30.
