AITUC condemns police action on Liberty Shoe workers in Karnal

New Delhi, June 26 (UNI) Condemning police baton charge on Liberty Shoe workers in Haryana's Karnal district, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) today demanded that all arrested workers be released and paid compensation for the injuries.

AITUC Secretary D L Sachdev said the increasing attacks on workers' rights by the Congress-ruled states was a matter of serious concern for the entire trade union movement.

''Non-implementation of labour laws in Haryana is rampant. The state government is not paying any attention and is openly favouring managements,'' he added.

He condemned arrest of scores of workers, who were holding peaceful protests for implementing of agreement by the management.

Last year on July 25, Honda workers were brutally beaten up by the Haryana police in Gurgaon while they were agitating against the management.
