3.5 tonnes of seized illicit drugs torched in Thailand
Bangkok, June 26 (UNI) Thai authorities today set fire to 3.5 tonnes of illicit drugs worth 285 million dollars to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
The contraband, including 2.8 tonnes of methamphetamine tablets besides heroin, opium, cocaine and codeine, was torched at a public ceremony in the city of Ayyutthaya, 75 km north of Bangkok.
Public Health Minister Pinij Jarusombat and representatives of international agencies were present on the occasion.
