Vanchinad express has a miraculous escape
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25 (UNI) The Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram Vanchinad Express, bound for Thiruvananthapuram, had a miraculous escape from a possible tragedy at Vellur here today.
The train stopped after running over a heap of mud that fell on the tracks between Piravam Road and Mulamthuruthy stations following heavy rains. As the train was running at slow speed, a possible accident was averted. The train halted after hitting the mud heap, Railway sources said here.
The train resumed its journey after more than two hours as another engine was brought from Kottayam as the 'cow catcher' of the engine was damaged in the accident.
Many trains on the route were running late following the accident, Railway sources added.
