Two inmates shot dead in Nainital

Dehra Dun, June 25 (UNI) A joint police and SOG team shot dead two of the three prisoners, who escaped from the district jail, at Dhanchuli forest in Nainital, official sources said today.

However, the third man managed to escape.

The prisoners had run away from the jail with the help of three armed men, the sources said.

They were, however, rounded up at Dhanchuli but did not listen to the police team's order to stop, forcing them to open fire in which Rajesh Singh and Mohan Paliwal were killed.

However, the search for third convict Raju Rawat and the three other men was still on, the sources added.
