Two Indians, in jail for causing fire, have sentences halved
Dubai, June 25 (UNI) Two Indians, convicted of causing a fire that gutted an upmarket shopping complex here, had their jail terms halved on appeal.
The two, Zabento Fernando, 59 and Yen Reddy, 29 had their six-month sentences reduced to three months by the Dubai Court of Appeal yesterday.
Their supervisor, an Indian, Monawer Khalel Al Rahman, 26, had no change to his three-month sentence.
The men were found guilty in April of negligence leading to the blaze, which destroyed the shopping centre on September 8 last year, causing a damage estimated as Rs 3.8 crore.
