Traders demand action on Khanna Committee recommendations

New Delhi, Jun 25 (UNI) Leaders of trade bodies in the capital today asked the Centre to set up a special task force for implementation of the Tejinder Khanna Committee report on unauthorised constructions.

A meeting on the issue, called by the Confederation of All India Traders, also demanded that the Union Urban Development Ministry constitute joint zonal committees in Delhi for suggesting modifications and amedments in Master Plan 2021.

The meeting criticised the Delhi Development Authority for its recent order on commercial establishments operating from DDA flats saying the government had already put a moratorium on such official measures.

The traders also demanded an amnesty scheme as envisaged in the Malhotra Committee report.

CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that traders would soon prepare ''market plans'' and submit it to the UDH Ministry. A joint zonal committee in each of the 15 zones of the capital should also be constituted comprising of officials and traders to draw up modalities for bringing amendments in Master Plan 2021, he said.
