Three killed, five injured in accidents in HP

Mandi, Jun 25 (UNI) Two brothers were among three people were killed and five injured, three of them seriously, in three separate road accidents in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hrs, police today said.

Two people were killed on the spot and two seriously injured after a three wheeler they were traveling in, rolled down into a gorge at Rihra turn on the Lad Bharol-Sandha road in the district.

Police said the accident occurred after the driver of the speeding vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve.

The injured, identified as Gajan Singh and Ram Singh, have been admitted in a government hospital at Mandi, while the dead were identified as Raj Mal and Nanak Chand.

The district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead.

In another accident in the district, a school girl was crushed to death after she was run over by a jeep in Thapi Kurl village of Sarkaghat sub-division of the district, police said.

In yet another accident in the district, three persons were seriously injured when a truck overturned at Kalerhu Nullah in Jogindernagar sub-division of the district.

All the injured have been admitted in Civil Hospital at Baij Nath, police added.
