Three family members die after consuming poison

Kolhapur, June 25 (UNI) Three members of a family, including the father and his two daughters, died after they allegedly consumed poison near village Ambap in Hatkanangale of this district.

Police today said that father, identified as Manohar Kamble (32), forcibly poisoned his two daughters Monika (7) and Mayuri (6) in their house situated outside the Ambap village, then he himself consumed the same late last night.

On hearing the girls' cries, the neighbours rushed all the three to Civil Hospital here, where Manohar was declared brought dead on arrival, while the two girls, who were serious died this afternoon, police said.

Manohar, a driver of a private vehicle had spent huge money on his wife's operation and was jobless. Frustrated over money problems, he took the drastic step, police said.

Meanwhile, according to reports reached with Vadgaon police station, Manohar's wife, who was residing at her parents home at village Kurukali also passed away this morning after undergoing an operation for the treatment of cancer, police added.
