STF encounter: one killed, criminals explode bomb in a train
Lucknow, June 25 (UNI) Special Task Force(STF) of Uttar Pradesh police shot dead a dreaded criminal, Chaman, wanted in several cases of murder and kidnappings, in an encounter in the state capital today.
Police sources said on a tip off,the STF sleuths challenged Chaman and his accomplice who were passing through Alambagh locality on the motorcycle early this morning.
The criminals tried to open fire on the policemen but were shot dead. However, the accomplice of Chaman managed to flee the police cordon.
Chaman, a resident of Hardoi, had at least 22 criminal cases against him and police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head.
Meanwhile, in another incident, five passengers were injured when criminals exploded crude bombs in the general boggie of Gonda -Sitapur passenger train near Sariya station in Sitapur district last night.
The criminals decamped with cash and valaubles from the passengers before the explosion.
The injured passengers have been admitted to the government hospital at Sitapur. A case has been lodged with the GRP police station here.
