Seven inmates of Vadodara juvenile remand home escape

Vadodara, June 25 (UNI) As many as seven inmates of a juvenile remand home today escaped after assaulting its security guard here.

City police sources said the inmates executed their escape plan in a well-calculated manner.

As per their plan, the 50-year-old security guard-cum-cook Arvind Mohan Pandya was severely assaulted by the seven, as he opened the door to allow one of them to relieve him outside.

Of the total 26 inmates in the remand home, seven juveniles escaped under the cover of darkness as the security guard fainted on the floor resisting the escape bid. He was later admitted to the civil hospital here.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to nab the escapees after the security guard filed a complaint with the Karelibaug police this evening, sources said and added that all the escaped juveniles were in the age group of 12-17 years.

All police stations have been alerted and a close watch being maintained at bus stops and railway stations in and outside Vadodara to trace the culprits, the sources added.
