SAD-BJP alliance will regain power in Punjab:Shahnawaz
Moga, June 25 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain today said the alliance of his party with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was ''formidable enough to oust the Congress from power in Punjab''.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated in the last four years and the Amarinder government had failed to live upto the aspirations of the people. ''The painting on the wall is very clear, the SAD-BJP alliance will capture power in Punjab'', he said.
Replying to a question, he said it was too premature to say anything about the number of assembly seats the BJP would contest in the elections which are due early next year. Seat adjustments would not be a major problem between the two allies and would be sorted out at the appropriate time, he added.
Criticising the UPA government, he said it had failed on all fronts, patricularly on the economic front. In this context he refered to the increasing prices of essential commodities.
''The UPA government was breathing on the oxygen being provided by the left parties'', he said. He also criticised the Kashmir policy of the government, claiming it had failed to check terrorist activity.
Mr Hussain was here to pay tributes to the 26 RSS activists who were gunned down by terrorists in the town on this day in 1989. BJP national secretary Harjit Singh Grewal and other senior leaders of the party paid homage to the RSS 'martyrs' at a 'Shaheed Samagam' organised on the occasion.
