Police, Maoists exchange fire
Visakhapatnam, Jun 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Police personnel and Maoists exchanged fire for about 15 minutes near Gollalli village here late last night, police today said.
According to Superintendent of Police J G Murali, none was injured in the encounter. A .303 rifle and five kits were recovered from the spot.
In another incident, a few hours before the gun battle, a jeep belonging to the state Forest Development Corporation was set ablaze allegedly by Maoists at R V Nagar here.
The Superintendent of Police added that combing operations would be further intensified ahead of the ensuing civic polls.
Suspected members of CPI Maoists also blew up the house of former Chintapalli MLA P Balaraju here, after asking her mother to leave the house.
