NRI gives 'supari' to kill brother

Phagwara, June 25 (UNI) The Punjab Police arrested three members of a gang of contract killers who were hired by a Non- Resident Indian (NRI) to kill his brother.

According to DSP Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, the three were apprehended near Phillaur yesterday. They were identified as Gurdip Singh alias Deepa of Bholath, Gurjit Singh alias Sadhu of Kartarpur and Manjit Singh alias Billa of Miani village.

The DSP said the three had taken a 'supari' (contract) of Rs 4.5 lakh from NRI Jaswant Singh to kill his NRI brother Kuldip Singh.

The two brothers were involved in a property dispute.

Though the hired killers made an attempt on the life of Kuldip Singh when he visited his native village Miowal recently, he escaped unhurt. Mr Grewal said Jaswant Singh had paid Rs 75,000 in cash as advance while the remaining payment was to be given after the killing.

The DSP said the police had also registered a case against Singh, who is currently abroad.
