Naxal area commander shot dead
Raipur, June 25 (UNI) A naxal area commander was shot dead in a police encounter today at Ramkola area in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur Police District, police said.
According to a police official, on a tip-off about presence of 20-25 naxals in Ramkola area, CRPF jawans started combing the area.
On seeing jawans at Katta village, naxals opened fire forcing the jawans to retaliate killing naxal commander Narayan, who had influence in Chalgali and Pratapur area of Sarguja district.
His influence was more than Ramesh Nageshia, who was killed in an encounter some days back, the official told UNI.
A 315-bore rifle, two guns, camera and several cartridges were seized from the deceased.
