MP joins top 10 states in industrial development : Gaur

Jabalpur, June 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur today said the state has joined the league of ten most forward states in respect of industrial development.

He told reporters here that a survey by Tata Services has revealed that Madhya Pradesh has left behind Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh in implementation of industrial projects.

According to the survey, last year proposed industrial investment in Madhya Pradesh was Rs 73,608 crore, while implementation of these projects was 72 per cent.

In comparison, percentage of implementation of industrial projects in Himachal Pradesh was 65 per cent, while it was 64 per cent in Rajasthan, 62.7 per cent in Haryana and 47.7 per cent in Andhra Pradesh.

He said the findings were published by a business journal in its June issue.

Mr Gaur said the state government was providing cheap land and peaceful atmosphere to investors making Madhya Pradesh an ideal state for industrial investment.

The state would develop into a power hub in the coming future.

The setting up of 6,600 MW plant in Sidhi and Reliance's methane gas power plant in Shahdol were important steps towards this direction.

He said Madhya Pradesh had broken its image of 'Bimaru state' and progressed on the path of industrial development in the past two-and-half years.

The Minister said an exhibition 'Heart of India' was organised by the Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Nigam at 'International Lifestyle Fair' in Japanese capital Tokyo -- which he had visited along with a central delegation about 10 days back.

The exhibition showcased handicrafts prepared by tribals of Chhindwara and Seoni.

Orders worth Rs one crore were bagged for handicrafts at the fair and the state would export handicrafts worth Rs 10-15 crore to Japan in the coming years. This would provide employment to around 5,000 tribal artisans, the minister added.
