Mass marriages in Pearl City

Hyderabad, Jun 25 (UNI) The Hyderabad Welfare Society today performed the marriage of 51 girls hailing from poverty-stricken families.

Prominent personalities attended the ceremony and blessed the 27 Muslim, 17 Hindu and seven Christian couples.

Addressing the gathering, Siasat Chief Editor Zahid Ali Khan recalled the society's services in peforming marriages of girls who could not afford dowry.

Emphasising the society's role in securing the couples employment and livelihood, Mr Khan said the funds received by it should be audited regularly and the programmes conducted in transparent fashion.

The mass marriage would also promote national integrity in the society where the Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities came together under one roof, he added.
