Kerala a role model in women empowerment: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan today said Kerala was a role model for the whole country in women empowerment.
Inaugurating the discussion on 'decentralised planning and development' organised in connection with the 'reading week celebrations' here, he said the decentralised planning was aimed at social change and development, removing poverty and inequality.
The ''decentralised planning'' added strength to the democratic activities, he said and added that it would become a reality in a society which had the political will and responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, state Water Resources minister N K Premachandran said a collective effort was needed for this.
Principal Secretary to Prime Minister T K A Nair and state Civil Supplies minister C Divakaran were also present on the occasion.
