Francis Assissi Chullikkat ordained as Apostolic Nuncio

Kochi, June 25 (UNI) Monsignor Francis Assissi Chullikkat was formally ordained as the titular Archbishop of Ostra and Apostolic Nuncio to Iraq and Jordan at a solemn ceremony led by Vatican's special representative Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo here today.

The ordination ceremony, witnessed by a large number of people, was held at St Alberts Ground this afternoon. Msgr. Chullikkat was recently appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as Apolstolic Nuncio to Iraq and Jordan.

Besides Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo, who is the Vatican's secretary for intergovernmental relations, the ordination ceremony was attended by Apostolic Nuncio to India Pedro Lopus Quintanna, Archbishop of Verapoly Daniel Acharuparambil and vicar-general Msgr.

Earlier, a Pontifical Mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church here this morning to mark the occasion.
