Nagpur, June 25 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Prafulla Patel today categorically said the Boeing Aircraft maintenance and Repairing Unit (MRU) would be set up in Nagpur.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Patel denied reports that appeared in a section of the press recently saying there was a proposal of the West Bengal government to set up the Boeing Aircraft MRU in that state.

A deal with the American-based Boeing Company has been in progress to buy the boeing aircaft and setting up of Boeing aircraft MRU in Nagpur was a part of the deal, he pointed out.

Mr Patel said the proposed cargo Hub to be set up in Nagpur was also a part of the development initiative in Nagpur and efforts are being taken by the Aviation Ministry to extend financial support to the Maharashtra government setting up the Cargo Hub in Nagpur.

''Since the his ministry has committed to develop the Nagpur Airport, other infrastructure facilities have to be initiated and therefore International flights have already been launched from the Nagpur Airport,'' he said.

He also denied newspaper reports that Union Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar was trying to take the Cargo Hub project to Pune or elsewere in western Maharashtra. He also held discussions twice with the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and assured him that the Cargo Hub at Nagpur would be handed over to the state government once the disputes like land acquisition are cleared, he added.
