5,562 people benefit from NREGS

Shimla, June 25 (UNI) A sum of nine crore have been sanctioned to Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), HP Vidhan Sabha Assembly Speaker G R Musafir today said.

A sum of Rs three crore had been sanctioned for three development blocks in Sirmour district, he said after inaugurating the Mohana-Sachiyali link road, constructed at a cost of Rs eight lakh, in Pachhad constituency of the district.

The scheme was being implemented in 150 districts of the country, including Chamba and Sirmaur districts of the state, and would provide at least 100 days of employment to one member of below poverty line (BPL) families in these districts.

Mr Musafir said 722 works had been sanctioned in the district under the scheme and 15,199 house owners were registered, providing a minimum of 100 days of employment to 5,562 people.

He said under the Complete Sanitation Programme, a sum of Rs two crore would be spent in Rajgarh and Pachhad Blocks and added that the people of Mohana-Sachiyali village were being provided sufficient electricity, adequate drinking water, schools and roads.
