Foundation for ONGC project to be laid soon: PM
Bangalore, Jun 24: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today assured that the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ONGC's Rs 4,852 crore petrochemical project in Mangalore, which was deferred yesterday as he could not land in Bajpe airport due to inclement weather, will be done soon.
Addressing a large gathering at the foundation stone laying for the ten-lane mixed corridor elevated expressway project here, he said the foundation stone would be laid soon and work on the petrochemical complex would begin without any further delay.
It may be recalled that the aircraft carrying the Prime Minister could not land at Bajpe Airport near Mangalore yesterday and was diverted to Bangalore, his next destination, due to inclement weather and heavy rains. Following this, ONGC officials had deferred the much-awaited foundation laying ceremony, which drew strong protests from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
