Welfare fund for private hospital workers proposed
Thiruvananthapuram, June 23 (UNI) The new Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala proposes to constitute welfare funds for private hospital workers, shop assistants, goldsmiths, limeshell wokers, parcel service and small plantation labourers.
Presenting the revised budget for 2006-2007 to the State Assembly today, Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac said the funds would be launched during the current year itself.
He said an additional amount of Rs 36.17 crore had been set apart for paying agriculture workers' pension. The government would ensure funds for the timely payment of pension from other welfare schemes to the beneficiaries.
