Welfare fund for private hospital workers

Thiruvananthapuram, June 23 (UNI) The new Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government in Kerala proposes to constitute welfare funds for private hospital workers, shop assistants, goldsmiths, limeshell wokers, parcel service and small plantation labourers.

Presenting the revised budget for 2006-2007 in the State Assembly today, Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac said the funds would be given during the current year itself.

He said an additional amount of Rs 36.17 crore had been set apart for paying agriculture workers' pension. The government would constitute funds for payment of the pension from other welfare schemes.
