Sharad Yadav questions Home Ministry's clean chit to Goyal

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Janata Dal (U) leader Sharad Yadav today questioned the reported decision of the Union Home Ministry to give a 'clean chit' to Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal and demanded his immediate arrest for his alleged links with the underworld dons.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Yadav, a former Civil Aviation Minister, said there were several reports against Mr Goyal by the intelligence agencies for the past several years.

He said he did not understand how suddenly the Home Ministry gave a security clearance to Mr Goyal. " The government must reveal the findings of the investigation and who gave him a clean chit", he said.

Yesterday, reports quoting sources in the Home Ministry said nothing adverse was found against Mr Goyal from the security point of view.

The matter was referred to the ministry by the Civil Aviation Ministry in February this year when the Jet Airways was making a bid to acquire Air Sahara.

Four of the five new directors, who were to form part of the Air Sahara Board, had already been given clearance by the Home Ministry.

Probe by various security agencies found nothing against Mr Goyal from the security point of view, the reports said.
