Several irrigation schemes apace in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 23 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched massive efforts to provide irrigation facilities in several villages of the state.

In this regard, a lift irrigation scheme is coming up at Boh Rajpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama at a cost of Rs 81.68 crore. The scheme having a capacity of 120 cusec would provide irrigation facilities to about 2429 hectares of land benefiting 15 villages in the district.

PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal visited the district to take stock of several such ongoing schemes.

He also inspected the Koil lift irrigation scheme, which is at present providing irrigation facilities to 3000 hectares of land.

The Minster also visited Wanpora water supply scheme which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1.44 crore and would benefit about 20 villages in the district.

A Gadoora water supply scheme is also coming up in the district at a cost of Rs 37.60 lakh, he was told by the officials.
