Sensex sheds 74 points in opening move
Mumbai, June 23: BSE Sensex today opened in the red by 74 points at 10,201 points compared to the previous close of 10,275 points.
The fears of US federal Bank increasing the interest rate from 25 basis points to 50 basis points led the markets across Asia to decline.
Investors across the board were on selling spree, especially in the auto, cement, IT, banking and metal sectors.
At 1145 hrs the sensitive Sensex is trading at 10,199.20 points, touching a high of 10,232.65 points and a low of 10,025.19.
All the scrips on the index were in red between 0.5 to 3.5 per cent, except the HDFC Bank up by 1.25 per cent to Rs 740.00, Ranbaxy Lab up by 1.36 per cent to 375.60 points, and RIL up by 0.61 per cent to Rs 979.80.
The sectoral indices on the NSE were mixed the CNX IT was down 4.49 per cent and CNX 500 was up by 1.80 per cent.
