Jabalpur, June 22(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya's father Uday Pratap Singh, who was recently convicted by a POTA court and sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment, has been shifted to Pratapgarh jail, (UP) from Jabalpur.

Inspector General of Jails, who was empowered by the Madhya Pradesh government, decided to transfer him to Pratapgarh as he was still facing several criminal cases in Uttar Pradesh. The transfer application was moved through Jabalpur Central Jail Superintendent.

Special public prosecutor J S Choudhary yesterday informed the special POTA court about the transfer of Uday Pratap Singh, who was shifted from here on Saturday last.

On June 2, Jabalpur's Special POTA court judge R P Mishra, while acquitting Raja Bhaiyya and his cousin Samajwadi Party MP Akshay Pratap Singh on POTA charge, had sentenced Uday Pratap Singh to five year RI and fined Rs 25,000 for keeping ammunition and A K 56 rifle in his possession.

POTA charges were framed against the trio during the rule of Mayawati on June 23,2003. With the change of government, the Mulayam Singh Yadav government decided to withdraw the case against them in July, 2004.

However, on a PIL filed by prime witness Awadhesh Shukla, the Supreme Court, in November last year, revoked the UP government decision to withdraw the case, but transferred the case to Jabalpur, where the trial started on November 22, 2005.
