KIMS Director transfer issue sparks tension

Hubli, June 23 (UNI) Tension prevailed for some time on the premises of the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here today when Dr Kaladagi, who was transferred from the Institute's Director post, tried to resume charge, armed with a court order.

The Karnataka Government had transferred Dr Kaladagi to the Government Medical College, Mysore, as Professor and appointed KIMS Medical Superintendent Dr M G Hiremath in his place. Accordingly, Dr Hiremath assumed charge yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court had last evening ordered status quo on a petition filed by Dr Kaladagi. Following this, Dr Hiremath informed the court about his assuming charge.

However, when Dr Kaladagi along with his supporters came to KIMS to continue as Director, Chief Administrative Officer B F Patil informed him that Dr Hiremath would be the Director as per Government orders. An agitated Dr Kaladagi left the place in a huff after senior police officials pacified him.
