JK Police arrange limbs for blast victims

Srinagar, June 23: In a humanitarian gesture, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have arranged artificial limbs for a person who lost both his legs in a landmine explosion in 2002.

Emotional scenes were witnessed at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) yesterday when Gulzar Ahmed Mir, a resident of Warson, Trehgam in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara thanked Director General of Police (DGP) Gopal Sharma for arranging the limbs.

After losing his legs, Mir approached the DGP for help. Mr Sharma then took personal interest to ensure that the artificial limbs were arranged from New Delhi.

The entire amount of Rs 1.50 lakh was borne by the PHQ which also provided limbs to eight other people who had lost their legs in different blasts in the Valley.
