Eastern Railway plans better amenities for passengers
Asansol, Jun 23 (UNI) Eastern Railway's Asansol division, covering West Bengal and Jharkhand, has planned to induct new passenger amenity facilities in all the 36 stations.
These include Asansol and Durgapur stations in West Bengal and Jaisidh in Jharkhand.
While talking to UNI, Mr Ajay Kumar Rawal, Divisional Railway Manager of Asansol said here today, ''we have taken at least 25 projects, because we are observing the year of passenger satisfaction with a smile.'' He also promised to complete the projects, including improvement of platform, extension for 24 coaches, enquiry counters, waiting rooms with lighting arrangements,drinking water facilities and foot overbridge, before March 31,2007. The total expenditure would be about Rs 10.65 crores compared to Rs 4.84 crores last year.
