CPI(Maoist) leader surrenders before police

Adilabad, Jun 23 (UNI) A CPI(Maoist) Naxal Batti Rajanna alias Prabhakar (28) surrendered before the Adilabad District Superintendent of Police Kripanand Tripathi Ujela today.

Producing Rajanna before media, Mr Kripanand said he belonged to a tribal community and was a resident of Setpally village of Khanapur mandal.

He said Rajanna was attracted to the naxal movement through revolutionary songs and speeches of Murali, a former naxal.

He joined the movement in August 1996.

Rajanna worked as a member in Singapur Local Guerilla Squad for two years and later shifted to Indervelli Dalam in 1999.

He became the Indervalli Dalam Commander in 2003. He was involved in six murder cases, three during exchange of fire with police and two cases of bus burning.

Vexed with the Party's attitude towards him, he decided to come out and lead a normal life.
