Coal production by CIL and SCCL exceeds target

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Coal production by public sector Coal India Ltd (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), a joint undertaking of the Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh, touched 31.07 million tonnes (mt) during May 2006, exceeding the target set of 30.89 mt for the month.

The production was also higher by 6.34 per cent over 29.10 mt coal produced in the same month last year.

During the month, 2.02 mt of coal was allocated for e-auction by the coal producing companies of CIL. A total of 1,663 bidders emerged successful out of 1883 participating bidders in the e-marketing conducted and the average gain over the average notified price was 27.50 per cent and that of floor price was 6.3 per cent.
