Centre's priority to rural employment programmes in NE
Aizawl, Jun 23 (UNI) The Centre has given special attention to the implementation of the Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) in the NE Region.
During the first three years of the Tenth Plan, 5755 number of projects has been set up generating 97060 number of employment, the official sources here today informed.
During the year 2005-06, about 828 total number of projects were set up, along with Rs 397.53 lakh margin money utilised and employment generated to 34,106 number of persons.
Besides, 24 exhibitions for display and sale of products manufactured by REGP entrepreneurs were organised upto January 2006.
Concessional facilities were extended to the weaker sections and to the entrepreneurs under the scheme in the NE Region.
Accordingly, 30 per cent margin money in place of 25 per cent in general is provided to the entrepreneurs.
For setting up projects in NE Region, the entrepreneurs' contribution is only 5 per cent of the project cost in place of 10 per cent in other areas, the sources added.
