429 information officers appointed in Mizoram
Aizawl, Jun 23 (UNI) The Mizoram government seems to be going strictly by the Right to Information Act formed recently by the Central government, as it has appointed 429 information officers in the various departments here.
Apart from this, about eight Departmental Appellate Authority were also inducted,The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DI&PR) today informed UNI.
The names and addresses of these officers can be seen at the DI&PR, the nodal department.
More than ten different departments of the Mizoram government have already started answering queries since the RTI was implemented in the country, on October 12, 2005.
The Law department has given approval to the Mizoram RTI rules while the budget is yet to be approved by the Finance department.
As notified by the government, fees would not be collected from citizens seeking information from the government under Right to Information Act.
State Information Commissioner along with his subordinates and staff will be appointed shortly, the officials said.
