Vigilance inquiry ordered over eviction of lawyer

Allahabad, June 22 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today directed a vigilance inquiry over the eviction of a lawyer from his chamber by local police in Allahabad.

The court asked Director General Vigilance to submit its report within a month about the involvement of police in the matter.

Passing the order on a writ petition of Nigmendra Shukla, Justice A P Sahi posted the case for next hearing to July 24 next.

The judge also summoned the progress report of investigation over the FIR lodged by the petitioner.

The court observed there was prima facie involvement of police in the case.

Notices have also been issued to DIG Akhilesh Mehrotra, inspector Kotwali Vijai Pal Singh Yadav, sub inspector Arvind Yadav and others and asked to file counter-affidavit in the case.

On the intervening night of June 11/12 this year, the petitioner was evicted from his chamber situated at South Malaka, Allahabad under Kotwali police station area.

When no action was taken even after an FIR was lodged, a writ petition was filed.
