New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh today demanded action against Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal for overdrawing from Northern Power grid, which it said was leading to frequent collapse of grid frequency.

The UP Power Corporation has urged the Northern Regional Power Committee to advise the Northern Region Load Dispatch Centre(NRLDC) to take corrective measures.

It said that for the last few days grid frequency was running most of the time at less than 49.0 Hz due to frequent outages of machines of Central Thermal Generating Stations.

In a letter to the Member Secretray of the Committee, Managaing Director, UP Power Corporation Awanish Kumar Awasthi said states like Uttaranchal should not be compared to Uttar Pradesh while accounting the overdrawal because of the big difference in their size and population.

It would be just if Uttar Pradesh was compared to Maharashtra which was comparable to the state in population and size.

He also said that comparison should be made in terms of the percentage of the total allocation for that state. This was necessary to determine whether the overdrawals formed a small or large proportion of the total allocation for that state.

The UP Power Corporation had been informing the NRLDC about over-drawing by these states from time to time, he said.
