UNESCO Club members, Arman official visit Mysore jail

Mysore, June 22 (UNI) UNESCO club members and Ms Neeru Arya, General Secretary of Arman, a society for the uplift of women, youth, children and jail inmates, today visited the Mysore jail.

Ms Arya met Superintendent of Police M C Viswanathaiah and discussed with him about the jail conditions. Her desire to meet the women inmates could not come through as they had no written permission from the Director General of Police (Prisons).

Suggesting that jails be networked for better utilisation of jail birds' skills, she detailed about the reformation activities like agarbathi making taken up by women inmates of Tihar jail.

The team, including UNESCO club members Bhaskar Bohra of Assam, Anil Kumar of Cherlapalli in Andhra Pradesh, Sowbaghya Kulkarni and J K Kulkarni of Sholapur, visited the showroom displaying the produces of jail inmates.
