Three-day Panchayati Raj Workshop begins from tomorrow
New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) A three-day workshop on the Panchayati Raj will begin here tomorrow with the main focus on devolution of power among other issues.
The workshop, organised by the Panchayati Raj Ministry, will bring together about 150 writers and thinkers who will exchange their views on various issues including devolution of power, governance, transparency and Right to Information in Panchayati Raj. Training and Capacity building, Economic business, Gender Issues, Livelihood Security, 0land issues and agriculture, Tribal Affairs, Dalits and Marginalised communities, Civil Society and Parallel Institutions, Traditional Institutions and state-related issues in the Panchayati Raj and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in the Panchayati and Non-Panchayati Raj Institutions would also be discussed in the workshop.
Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar, Dr Y K Alagh, Dr George Matthew, Dr K P Kannan, Dr Ravi Srivastava, P Sainath, Ms Aruna Roy, Mr Natwar Thakkar and Dr Ravi Chopra are among the prominent writers and thinkers who are scheduled to participate in the deliberations.
