Indo-Pak talks on Wullar Barrage begins
Islamabad, June 22: The third round of two-day secretary level talks between India and Pakistan on Wullar Barrage begin here today.
Union Water Secretary J Hari Narayan and his Pakistani counterpart Ashfaq Mehmood were leading their respective delegations at the talks.
Mr Narayan said the two sides would try to make the talks meaningful. He also expressed satisfaction over the progress made during last two rounds of discussions.
Pakistan's private TV channel, Geo TV quoted Mr Mehmood as saying that it would take time to achieve results.
The two sides are expected to present their respective position on the contentious issue. Pakistan is of the view that the construction of Wullar Barrage will be a violation of the Indus Basin Treaty signed in 1960 and has been demanding a change in the project design.
