Sochi, Salzburg and Pyeongchang for 2014 Olympics-IOC
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 22 (Reuters) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today named Russia's Sochi, Salzburg in Austria and Pyeongchang in South Korea on its shortlist to host the 2014 Winter Games.
Bulgarian capital Sofia, Jaca in Spain, Almaty in Kazakhstan and Georgia's Borjomi missed out.
The IOC's executive board, whose 15 members include IOC President Jacques Rogge, announced the narrowing of the field from seven cities during a three-day meeting at its headquarters in Switzerland.
The 2014 host city will be chosen in July next year.
