Sahil Zaroo sent to Police custody till Jun 27

Mumbai, Jun 22: A local court here today granted police custody till June 27 to Sahil Zaroo, a co-accused in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, wanted by the Mumbai police in a case of theft and deterring a public servant from discharging his duties.

Sahil Zaroo who was brought to Mumbai after a Delhi court granted three day transit remand, was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M H Belosay this afternoon.

The Magistrate after hearing both the sides, granted police custody to Sahil till tuesday next and directed investigating officers to provide him medical treatment.

The Prosecution said that his custodial interrogation is required to unearth his links in smuggling ''Shatoosh Shawls'' from Kashmir and some other matters connected to this case registered in March this year.

However, the defence counsel argued that Sahil was falsely implicated in this case as section 380 of IPC is not sustainable to him as the shops belonged to his father. Regarding other section 353, he argued that forest officials who went to the shop for search were not in uniform, hence some confusion prevailed leading to a minor argument.

The Counsel also informed the court that Sahil is running with high fever today, and sought medical treatment and rest for a day.

A bail application also moved today before the magistrate court which will come up for hearing on June 27.

A case of deterring a public servant from discharging his duties and theft has already been registered against sahil at the Marine Drive Police Station.
