Renowned writer Pavanan dead
Thrissur, June 22 : Renowned Malayalam writer Pavanan (P V Narayanan Nair) died at a private hospital here in the morning due to age-related illness.
He was 80.
Pavanan is survived by his wife Parvathy Amma, two sons and a daughter.
A former journalist, Pavanan won the Kerala Sahithya Akademi Award in 1965 and the Soviet Land Nehru Award in 1979.
He was the secretary of the Kerala Sahithya Akademi (1977-84) and the General Secretary of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists, Kerala Kalamandalam and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademy Member.
Pavanan was also the editor of Malayalam Encyclopedia. He had authored more than a dozen books.
The cremation will take place in the evening at Laloor here today.
