Paid holidays for industrial workers, students for LB polls

Pondicherry, June 22(UNI)The Pondicherry administration has declared holidays for all government and private educational institutions for the civic polls being held here after a gap of 38 years.

According to an offical release today educational institutions in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam which go to polls in the first phase on June 24 will remain closed on June 23 and 24, while in Ozhukarai and Pondicherry muncipality areas and Villianur commune panchayat where elections will be held in the second phase on June 27, holiday has been declared on June 26 and 27. For the areas which go to polls in the final phase on July 1, June 29 and 30 June and July 1 will be the holidays.

The institutions in all the four regions would remain closed on July 3, the day of counting.

Industrial workers and those from unorganised sector will have a paid holiday on all the three polling days in the respective regions.
