NSCN-IM accuses media of playing destructive role

Kohima, June 22 (UNI) The Isak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has rapped the media for 'playing destructive role' by misinforming the world community on the ongoing Naga talks with the Centre.

The organization, 'MIP Deputy Kilonser' KJraibo Chawang today said that the media was playing a destructive role, by using certain words such as 'autonomy, special development or package, Naga inhabited areas' etc. which has never been used either by them or the Centre during the talks.

''When we have never used these words in the talks, what type of an autonomy are they talking about,'' Chawang asked. He also maintained, ''the two sides have been trying to work out a special federal relationship on issues such as defence, external affairs, flag, currency etc, therefore, the question of autonomy as appearing in the media does not arise.'' ''This shows that media has not understood the seriousness of the Naga peace process,'' he said adding ''we are only talking about the political solution. We never discussed about package deal.'' Further, Chawang also informed that the talks which were being held from today till June 24 in Hague would be very crucial as they are going to touch upon all the substantive issues.
