No cut in number of seats at KIMS

Hubli, June 22 (UNI) The Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) will admit 100 students for the MBBS course this year and there would be no cut in the number of seats, newly appointed KIMS Director Dr M G Hiremath said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he clarified that the Medical Council of India had not cut the Institute's quota. There were seven per cent teaching vacancies and the same would be filled by October this year.

Dr Hiremath said KIMS had the capacity and infrastructure to admit 150 students and a proposal for the same had been submitted to the concerned. It was also proposed to extend the present facilities by another 300 beds and six operation theatres.
