New Delhi, June 22 (UNI) The Municipal corporation of Delhi was today asked to put in place a system to provide a check list of functional facilities being provided at its community centres.

The direction, from the public grievances commission, came after a person compained about MCD's lack of response to his application seeking information on systems and procedures for booking community halls run by it alongwith the facilities provided.

In his complaint to the PGC, the applicant said the response given by the competent authority in the MCD was inadequate.

Moreover, the reply was late by 32 days.

The applicant pointed out those seeking to book MCD community halls have to carry large amounts of money, upwards of Rs 10000 in cash (when this is not specified) and to wait for three months for a security refund. He also demanded to be told what action is possible when facilities like lightning, water etc are grossly deficient.

The commission directed the MCD that an amplified reply be given in 21 days and systems put in place to provide a check check list of functional facilities being provided at its community centres at the time of handing over.

As a part of systemic reforms, the commission also recommended that the system for making advance payment and security deposit needed to be simplified and to accept demand drafts instead of insisting on payment by cash, which it said was cumbersome and risky.
