Manmohan Singh to pay two-day visit to K'taka

Bangalore, June 22: A hectic schedule awaits Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who would pay a two-day visit to the State from tomorrow.

Dr Singh would arrive at the Mangalore airport by an IAF Boeing aircraft at 1135 hrs tomorrow. He would immediately proceed to Permude in Dakshina Kannada district to lay the foundation stone for the multi-crore refinery complex of ONGC.

The Prime Minister would fly to Bangalore in the afternoon and reach the city at 1505 hrs. In the evening, he would release a commemorative coin in honour of 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara at Ambedkar Bhavan. Later in the day, he would take part in the centenary celebrations of public sector Canara Bank at Bishop Cotton Boy's School Auditorium.

After a night's halt at Raj Bhavan, Dr Singh would lay the foundation stone on Saturday for the ten-laning of 9.89-km-long mixed corridor to Electronic City at KSRP Parade Ground at Adugodi in the city.

In the evening, the Prime Minister would lay the foundation stone for the much-awaited Bangalore Metro project at the Police Grounds on the Mahatma Gandhi Road here, before emplaning for New Delhi at 1645 hrs.
