Manipur CM denies link with any militant group

Imphal, Jun 22 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has refuted allegations of having links with Nagaland based militant groups and borrowing money from them during the last Assembly elections. An official release here said there was a report by a section of the press that a militant outfit had served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister to repay Rs 100 million which he had allegedly borrowed during the 2000 elections through his emissary Bijoy Koijam. The Chief Minister said such an allegation was totally baseless and unfounded.

He said Koijam was elected in the elections held in 2002. Before that he did not even know him.

The Chief Minister denied that he had any link with any underground outfit for election or any other purpose. He said the government was making all efforts for the development and progress of the state.
