Man attacked by 'friends' over Soccer debate

Siliguri, Jun 22: Soccer mania has taken the entire nation in its grip in such a manner that people think nothing of wounding others if they speak against it.

One person was seriously injured when four of his enraged friends attacked him with a sharp weapon following a heated debate over last night's World Cup Football match being played in Germany, police said.

The four were soon arrested. The incident took place at Bada Golai under Rongli Rongliet police station.

The victim Prajan Chetri was rushed to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital where doctors said he suffered a mild brain haemorrhage.
